Insurance industry gets support from state governments on compulsory insurances

The nation’s insurance industry efforts to educate the the benefits of insurance, received a boost as state governments have indicated support to bring insurance awareness to the people.

For instance, the chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has pledged to work with the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) on implementation and enforcement of compulsory insurances, and may invite the insurance sector regulatory body to meet with the 36 state governors to appraise them of its initiatives.

The Governor stated this during a courtesy visit by the management of NAICOM led by the Commissioner for Insurance, Olorundare Sunday Thomas, in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.

According to him, Ekiti state takes insurance seriously, but can still do more. “Be rest assured that we will work with you and we may need to invite you to meet with 36 state governors to appraise them of your initiatives.”
